DATES SET FOR 2015 WINTER SPEAKER SERIES PRESENTATIONS

GNPVA sponsors a Winter Speaker Series every year and 2015 promises to be one of the best! The event is held on the last Monday in January, February and March at the Museum at Central School in downtown Kalispell. This year's dates and presentations are:

January 26, 7 PM.
Lisa Bate,Wildlife Biologist at Glacier National Park will present "GLACIER'S ELUSIVE NIGHT CREATURES"
Lisa will discuss current findings of the Glacier National Park Bat Inventory and Monitoring Project. She will share information on the ecological importance of bats, why bats are such a focus in research these days, how biologists survey for bats and future plans for the project.

February 23, 7 PM.
Rick Yates, Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Forest Service will present
"WOLVERINE ECOLOGY IN GLACIER NATIONAL PARK"
Wolverines are one of the rarest carnivores in the Northern Hemisphere, but in Glacier National Park they have one of the highest densities in North America. They occupy subalpine areas, just above and below tree-line. Productivity and juvenile survival are low, but they eat almost everything. Between 2002 and 2007, an in-depth research project in Glacier, conducted by the U.S. Forest Service, shed much-needed light on this supposed "devil of the north".
