Ceramic Artist Troy Case: Exhibit and Reception Description:
FVCC Art Department Hosts Exhibit and Reception for Ceramic Artist Troy Case

Flathead Valley Community College's (FVCC) Art Department will host a reception for ceramic artist Troy Case on February 12 in the lower level of the Arts and Technology Building from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

A recent graduate of the University of Montana's School of Fine Arts, Case uses ceramic, steel, wood and rubber to create sculptures resembling engines and other human inventions. A selection of Case's sculptures will be on display at FVCC through March 15. Pieces will be available for purchase at the reception with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the FVCC Art Department.

"The human figure is a universal form capable of evoking an endless range of emotions and has been a source of intrigue in my studio practice," said Case. "I find the engine and inventions by human genius suitable replacements for the figure because as metaphors they strip away the extraneous 'stuff' of our lives and represent the power of being human."

Although Case is a relative new-comer to the art scene, his work has earned awards and notable mentions at galleries and shows in Seattle and Missoula.

Both the exhibit and the artist's reception are free and open to the public. For more information, contact FVCC Assistant Professor of Ceramics David Regan at 756-3993.
