The Whitefish Theatre Co Conducting Auditions for "TRIBES"

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for the spring production of "Tribes" on February

15th at the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Auditions will be held at 7:00 p.m. Please arrive

early to the Green Room to fill out an audition application and review the script.

From rising British playwright Nina Raine, "Tribes" is a savage, funny look at family dynamics and

the challenges of communication. As the only deaf member of his sharp-tongued family, Billy has

spent much of his life feeling out of place. Dissuaded from using sign language but adept at lip-

reading, it's tough to get a word in edgewise during the brash discourse of his hearing family. But

when Billy falls for Sylvia, a woman born to deaf parents who is slowly losing her hearing, tensions

reach an all-time high. "Tribes" has been called a provocative and touching play about membership

in your tribe and what it means to finally be understood.

The cast will be composed of up to 3 men and 3 women. Male roles include 1 man in his 50s-60s

and 2 men in their 20s-30s. Female roles include 1 woman in her 50s-60s and 2 women aged 20 to

early 40s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be

provided.

Rebecca Schaffer is the director for this production. Total time commitment for this production is

approximately six weeks of rehearsal. Rehearsals begin the week of February 29th. There are seven

performances over two weekends on April 14-17 and 21-23.
