Advanced Animal Tracking
12:00 PM
Glacier Park Community Building
Description:
The Glacier Institute is excited to offer the course "Advanced Animal Tracking" on February 16, 2013.

Join Glacier Institute instructor Brian Baxter for this exciting exploration of over forty 40 species of North American wildlife at the West Side of Glacier National Park. After a short introductory session at the Glacier Park Community Building, the group will head out on skis or snowshoes. We will spend the day investigating the various signs left behind by animals, taking measurements of tracks, and building the story of the background of these animals.

The Glacier Institute remains an independent organization after the recent merger of two other park partners. Solely dedicated to education, the Glacier Institute serves adults and children as an educational leader in the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, emphasizing outreach and field-based learning experiences; the non-profit Institute provides an objective and science-based understanding of the area's ecosystem and it interactions with people. Marking its 30th year of educational programs, The Glacier Institute is a long-time educational partner with Glacier National Park, Flathead National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Flathead Valley Community College. The Institute offers family programs, youth science adventure camps, Discovery School at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center and adult educational programs. The Institute has never turned away a child who has requested an educational scholarship and has welcomed over 27,000 Flathead Valley elementary school children to its Discovery School three-day immersion learning program at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center.
