Join the Flathead Chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society for a program on Digital Plant Tools. Shannon Kimball will present the new Glacier Wildflowers App and Jen Asebrook will introduce us to some of the most useful plant websites. 7 pm. Wednesday, February 20th. Teakettle Community Hall (a.k.a. North Valley Community Hall), 235 Nucleus Avenue, Columbia Falls. The program is free and open to the public. Everyone is also invited to a 5:30 general meeting to discuss Native Plant Society business and projects. For more information contact Rachel at 892-2446.

Shannon Kimball will introduce us to Glacier Wildflowers, a new app for your mobile devise. It includes multiple photographs from a growing list of over 250 wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees, including the most abundant and visible plants, as well as those less common but of particular significance. You can use common or scientific names; you can identify unknown plants with a key to visible characteristics; you can search; you can scroll quickly through thumbnail photos or browse leisurely through full-sized photos; you can enlarge photos, and delve into as much detail as satisfies you. This app covers the Glacier region, north to Waterton, east into Central Montana, and south and west to the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Bitterroot Mountains.

Then, Jen Asebrook, will show us the very best online native plant websites where you can find fantastic pictures, tips for gardening, what the most recent names are, and lots, and lots more.

Jen Asebrook has worked as a botanist in Glacier National Park for over 20 years. Shannon Kimball is the coauthor of Wildflowers of Glacier National Park and co-creator of the Glacier Wildflower App.
