Glacier Institute Lecture Description:
The Conrad Mansion Museum, in partnership with Glacier Institute, will be hosting a lecture, titled "Wildlife Encountered by Lewis and Clark" by Dave Shea.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for coffee, wine, and desserts. Presentations begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 per person and proceeds support the missions of both organizations. RSVPs are required. Please call the Conrad Mansion Museum at 406 755-2166.

This presentation by Dave Shea highlights the Lewis & Clark "Voyage of Discovery" from St. Louis to the Pacific and back, focusing on the birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish the explorers encountered and first described for science. These include everything from tiny hummingbirds to the immense California condor. Significant sites along the way of interest to historians will also be discussed.

Dave Shea earned his M.S. in Resource Conservation and his B.S. in Wildlife Biology from University of Montana. He has explored Glacier National Park during his thirty-five years as a supervisory backcountry ranger and biologist. In addition to working for the Park Service, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a wildlife biologist and botanist. Dave has published several works including Bald Eagle Concentrations in Glacier National Park, Animal Tracks of Glacier, and Glacier's Bird and Mammal Checklists.

Solely dedicated to education, the Glacier Institute serves adults and children as an educational leader in the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, emphasizing outreach and field-based learning experiences. The Institute is a long-time educational partner with Glacier National Park, Flathead National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Flathead Valley Community College. The Institute offers family programs, youth science adventure camps, Discovery School at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center and adult educational programs.

The mission of the Conrad Mansion Museum is to preserve and exhibit the 1895 Charles Conrad Family Estate through public tours, educational programs, and community events. The historic Conrad Mansion is located on Woodland Avenue between 3rd and 4th streets East. Charles E. Conrad's home was designed by Spokane architect Kirtland Cutter in 1895. Mr. Conrad platted and named the city of Kalispell, Montana. He was active in shipping, mining, banking and the cattle industry in the state. Original family furnishings are located throughout the 26 rooms of this restored Victorian mansion. Visit www.conradmansion.com for additional information.
