Art :: Art Show
"Space Isn't Just a Place" Opening
5:00 PM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art announces an exhibition of children's art entitled Space Isn't Just a Place. This exhibition of 2 and 3-dimensional artwork features recent school year works by children in kindergarten through the eighth grade who are students of Museum Member Schools, Hockaday Art Classes, and children included in Family Level Museum Memberships. Space Isn't Just a Place will be on display February 26 through March 28, 2015.

Interpretations of space are highlighted in this year's exhibition. Youngsters may interpret the theme as an outer space travel destination or an element of art. "Space" may be represented as the illusion of space in a landscape painting, a positive/negative space design or found in the open and closed spaces within a sculpture.

The opening reception for Space Isn't Just a Place will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and the public is invited to enjoy free admission to the event. Visitors may return to the Museum during the exhibition and learn more by taking one of the docent-guided tours held Thursday mornings at 10:30 AM and Saturdays at 1:00 PM (included with guest admission). The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm. A wheelchair accessible entry and elevator are provided.
