As part of our year-long celebration, please join us for an entertaining evening of education, owls, mansion touring, friendship and fun at the Conrad Mansion! Don’t miss the opportunity to exchange donations for wine and sweet treats before a lecture by the renowned Denver Holt, founder of the Owl Research Institute in the Mission Valley. Mr. Holt will be giving a lecture on the natural history of the majestic snowy owls. His presentation and slide show will discuss 21 years of research on these beautiful owls in Alaska and his relevant research in Montana. A $10 suggested donation will go toward the missions of both organizations.

The evening will begin at 6:00 on Thursday, March 7th at the Conrad Mansion Museum, 330 Woodland Ave, Kalispell, MT. Wine and desserts will be served before the presentation with tours of the mansion immediately following the presentation. The suggested donation is $10 per person. Seating is limited, so RSVPs are required. To RSVP, please call the Glacier Institute at 755-1211 or the Conrad Mansion at 755-2166. To register and gain more information on our 30 year celebration, courses, projects and activities of the Glacier Institute please visit www.glacierinstitute.org.

The Glacier Institute remains an independent organization after the recent merger of two other park partners. Solely dedicated to education, the Glacier Institute serves adults and children as an educational leader in the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, emphasizing outreach and field-based learning experiences. The Institute is a long-time educational partner with Glacier National Park, Flathead National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Flathead Valley Community College. The Institute offers family programs, youth science adventure camps, Discovery School at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center and adult educational programs.

The Conrad Mansion was built in 1895 and is one of the most outstanding examples of luxurious pioneer living and period architecture in the Pacific Northwest. Ownership and occupation of this beautiful Norman style mansion remained in the family until 1974, when the Conrad’s youngest daughter, Alicia Conrad McCutchen Campbell gave the home and its contents to the city of Kalispell to be maintained in perpetuity as a historic site in memory of her parents. Charles Conrad platted and named the modern city of Kalispell, Montana, and was active in shipping, mining, banking, and the cattle industry in the state.
