Shokoto, a Portland-based African music trio comprised of founder Okaidja Afroso and bandmates Mashud Neindow and Chaz Mortimer, takes you on a musical journey. Okaidja has created a unique form of music and dance that blends traditional Ghanaian music and dance with rhythms and movements of the African diaspora, including Afro- Cuban, Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Peruvian, American blues, jazz and tap. Unique instruments, such as the Afro-Peruvian cajon and the Ghanaian gil, unite these diverse cultures and blend traditional African music with a mixture of exultant compositions, soulful vocals, heart-pulsing drumming, and energetic dancing to create an exceptional experience that feeds your soul.
