The Hockaday invites everyone to the final session of its 2015 Winter Art Maker Series featuring Kalispell painter Karen Leigh. Karen will set up an easel and paint in the Hockaday's main gallery for this illuminating and engaging session of live art making. Attendees observe a work in progress and benefit from the artist's commentary and insight. There will be plenty of time during the 90-minute session for guests to interact with the artist.

Karen enjoys focusing on specific subjects for her paintings and has chosen to paint a vintage vehicle during her Winter Art Maker demonstration. She finds ideal subject matter in old, interesting things from the past and often wonders about the stories of the items' former owners. Karen seeks out the beauty in all things; especially in the unexpected places like alleys or "junk heaps". Shapes, colors and textures pique Karen's interest, more so than landscapes. Leigh plans on sharing her techniques for how she creates her award winning paintings and suggests that guests ask many questions during her presentation.

The third and final session of the 2015 Winter Art Maker Series will be held on Thursday, March 19, from 5:30PM to 7:00 PM, and the Hockaday encourages everyone to arrive early as the previous two sessions filled up quickly. Hockaday members are admitted free of charge and non-members will be asked to contribute a fee of $10. Memberships to the Museum start at $35/year for Seniors and College Students. Watercolorist Karen Leigh is scheduled to complete the series on March 19.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places.
