Wings of Winter: Free, Guided Birdwatching
9:00 AM
Kila Pub
Wings of Winter: Free, Guided Birdwatching Description:
Winter birding has both its challenges and rewards. We will visit a few different sites and pursue observations and signs of birds of prey, waterfowl, woodpeckers and songbirds. Winter wetlands in the Flathead are surprisingly rich with avian life! Please come with proper gear: binoculars, bird books, lunch, good boots, warm clothing and a spotting scope. MWA can provide a few pairs of snowshoes if they are needed.

This is a free, guided hike sponsored by Montana Wilderness Association. The hike will be led by expert naturalist Brian Baxter of Libby. The group will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 at the Kila Pub: 4220 US Highway 2, Kila, MT 59920. The hike will be approximately 3 miles long with about 300 feet of elevation gain.

Participants must sign up at wildmontana.org/walks under the "Winter Wilderness Walks" heading. Participants should select hike #19: "Wings of Winter". Participants will receive more specific information about the hike after registration. Children over 10 years of age with genuine interest are welcome if accompanied by an adult. This hike is free and open to the public.

For more information or for questions regarding registration, please contact Brian Baxter at b_baxter53@yahoo.com or at (406)291-2154.
