Hockaday Announces Senior Tour & Tea Day April 12
The Hockaday Museum of Art extends a warm welcome to Senior Citizens to come enjoy Senior Tour & Tea Day on April 12.  Senior Tour & Tea Day is held on the second Thursday of each month, and those age 60 and older receive free admission to the Museum 10 am – 5 pm.  Complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies are served between 10 am – 4 pm.  Guests interested in participating in a gallery tour led by one of the Museum’s trained volunteer docents are are asked to meet at the front desk at 10:30 am.  Senior Groups may call the Museum three or more weeks in advance to schedule an alternate tour time during the day.
One of the Hockaday’s trained docents will be taking the 10:30 am tour group through the Hockaday’s current exhibitions.  Since Seniors last visited in March, they will find two new exhibits to enjoy.  Donna Loos’ Silhouette Series is a study in painting the negative space around shapes, depicting influential figures in her 80 year-long life.  Local area high school student’s art is showcased in New Artists 2012.  The annual quality of the New Artists Shows is a testament to the caliber of art instruction offered in area schools and the talent of students in the Flathead Valley.  New Artists 2012 opened April 5.
The third main exhibit area showcases the Art and Artists of Glacier National Park in the Hockaday’s permanent collection.  Featured artists include C.M. Russell, John Fery, Leonard Lopp, Winold Reiss, Nicholas Oberling and Mark Ogle.
Senior Tour & Tea Day is sponsored by The Daily Inter Lake, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Sykes Pharmacy and Walgreens Pharmacy in Kalispell.
The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Museum is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm. A wheelchair accessible entry and elevator are provided. For more information, please visit www.HockadayMuseum.org or call 406-755-5268.
