Flathead Valley Concerts Assoc. Membership Drive
12:00 PM
FHS Auditorium
Description:
The Flathead Valley Concerts Association (formerly Community Concerts) is conducting their spring membership drive for their 73rd season in the Flathead valley, 2012-2013. The performances by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists will begin in late September with The Legacy of Floyd Cramer, performed by his grandson, Jason Coleman. Floyd Cramer is one of the most admired instrumentalists of all time. His signature piano styling is exemplified by the smash hit, "Last Date," and can be heard on classic songs by countless music legends, including Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley. The season continues in October with American countertenor Terry Barber. Once a member of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble, Chancticleer, he has an extraordinarily broad vocal range and natural fluency in a wide array of musical styles. A special extra concert will be included on Veteran's Day in November, featuring the acclaimed local group, Brasswerks. Veterans and children will be admitted free to this concert. Season ticket holders may choose to add this concert at a small additional cost. The general public will be able to buy tickets at the door. After a break for the holidays, the season restarts in February with Prima Trio. The group formed in 2004 while its members were studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. It distinguishes itself not only with its remarkable playing, but through the repertoire it performs, from beloved chamber music standards to exotic gems by international and American composers. The final concert will be in April with RedHead Express, a group from Alaska, performing a family night of entertainment. From hits of the 50s and 60s to country, originals, Irish, traditional, bluegrass and old time music, RedHead Express delights with tight harmonies and hard driving instrumentals, with a unique acoustic sound.

At the last concert for this season, at Flathead High School auditorium on 4/22, those who have purchased a season ticket for 2012-13 will be admitted free by showing their receipt. The concert features multi-talented rising star Anita Chen, who has received accolades by critics and audiences for being equally talented as a soloist on both the piano and the violin.

Season ticket prices are $60 for adults, $50 for seniors age 62 and over, $30 for students and $140 for families. Many local workers will be active in the valley selling tickets. If not contacted by a worker, call Cathie Bell at 257-2073, Bob Sapp at 756-7937, Carolyn Pfrimmer at 862-3641, or Betsy Wood at 752-0605.
