FVCC THEATRE PRESENTS “OPALâ€
The Flathead Valley Community College Theatre will bring a heartwarming musical for all ages to its stage this spring as it presents “Opal.â€
Written by Robert Lindsey-Nassif, “Opal†tells the story of a seven-year-old aristocratic girl who is orphaned in a shipwreck and placed in an Oregon lumber camp in 1904. Her one desire is to find a way to return to her parents and her former life. To survive, she creates a world of fantasy and enchantment.
FVCC theatre instructors Nick and Rebecca Spear will make their debut as directors at FVCC Theatre for the production.
“It's a play that I did about 15 years ago, and it stuck out to me as a great ensemble piece,†said Nick Spear. “I think a story that takes place in a logging camp is a good fit for the college and the Valley, and it's really just a wonderful story that explores the resilience of the human spirit.â€
Performances of “Opal†will take place April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the FVCC Theatre inside the Arts and Technology Building on the FVCC Kalispell campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens. Admission is free for students. Advance tickets can be purchased at the FVCC Bookstore in Blake Hall or by calling 756-3814 or online at www.fvcc.edu/fvcctheatre.html.
