Description:
Flathead Valley Community College's Continuing Education Center will host a workshop series designed to help nonprofit organizations find and keep volunteers. Developed with input from local nonprofit directors and board members, Finding and Keeping Volunteers will be held every Friday from May 6 through May 27 at the college. The May 6 session will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the May 13, May 20 and May 27 sessions will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost to register for the series is $125.

"This workshop series blends the principles and best practices of volunteer management and the practical experiences of local leaders in developing a strong volunteer program," said workshop facilitator Chany Ockert.

Various instructors will co-teach the 16-hour series. Sarah Sadowski of the Montana Governor's Office of Community Service and Shannon Stober of Verve Exchange Consulting will instruct on the foundational theory, principles and practices of volunteer management. Joel Kaleva of Crowley Fleck PLLP Attorneys will discuss volunteer law. Local nonprofit leaders will share their successful strategies for recruiting, managing, supporting and recognizing volunteers.

The workshop series is sponsored in part by a grant from The Applied Materials Foundation.
