Timeless Miniatures
5:00 PM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art announces that its popular annual exhibition and fundraiser featuring "miniature" works of art will begin on April 23, 2015. Timeless Miniatures features works no larger than 9" x 12" created specifically for the exhibition. Postcard-sized 4" x 6" Miniatures will also be offered during the exhibition with all proceeds benefiting the Museum. All pieces will be offered for sale via fixed price.

Timeless Miniatures is a national juried exhibition that will feature the work of 40 artists who will share what inspires and informs them on the search for their own timeless legacy. The creative process is inspired by our personal history. Exploration, vision and courage enable contemporary artists to express their own unique experiences on when creating a piece of art.
Trudi Van Dyke Independent Fine Art Curator and juror for the exhibit described her process when selecting work for the show.

"It's been a few years since I've been in Big Sky Country. It never takes long though to immerse in its beauty whether in person or through art. My goal in picking the show was that the accepted works in abstract and other unrelated subjects would comingle successfully with the western aura of the majority of the submissions.

The exhibiting artists found a way to successfully transmit big ideas to small spaces. Specifically I did not want to consider the small scale of the work. It needed to seem expansive as if not held in by limiting boundaries. The work read as though it had no limits to dimensions."

Proceeds from the Timeless Miniatures exhibition and fundraiser, now in its thirteenth year, support the Museum's mission "to enrich the cultural life of the community and region, and to preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park."

A free opening reception will be held Thursday, May 7, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Museum. Visitors will have an opportunity to view all of the 9" x 12" and 4" x 6" works and purchase their favorites. The exhibition closes on Saturday, May 23.
