10 Minute Play Festival
7:00 PM
FVCC
Description:
Flathead Valley Community College's Theatre Department will present the fourth biennial International 10-Minute Play Festival May 5 - 7. Free and open to the public, all performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the campus theatre inside the Arts and Technology Building.

FVCC received more than 900 original 10-minute play submissions from around the world per its call for scripts last fall. Entries were screened and selected by a committee comprised of FVCC faculty. Of the hundreds of entries, 12 were chosen for production based upon their fully developed plots and characters and their adaptability for a variety of theatre spaces. Each play will be directed by a different member of FVCC's Theatre Club, Mask & Hammer.

"It has been fun working with the student directors," said FVCC Associate Professor of Theatre Rich Haptonstall. "It's also great to see such eclectic and interesting work being produced. The 10-minute format lends itself to a comedic style, but there are a few darker and more subdued pieces as well."

The following plays will be presented during the festival:

"Jamaica Awaits" by Matt Hanf of Elk Grove, Calif. Directed by Justin Allred.

"Be That As It May" by Andrew Martineau of Springfield, Va. Directed by Camren Lembke.

"1000 Chickens" by James Hutchison of Calgary, Alberta. Directed by James Vale.

"No Prunes" by Henry Meyerson of New Brunswick, N.J. Directed by Jhalen Salazar.
