HOCKADAY ANNOUNCES SENIOR TOUR & TEA DAY MAY 8

Seniors age 60 are invited to take advantage of free admission to the Hockaday 10am-5pm on Thursday, May 8 and see the newest exhibitions: 2014 Benefit Auction of Miniatures and Montana Artists: Innovators, Inventors and Entrepreneurs. A free docent-led tour begins at 10:30am and speaks to all current exhibitions. Complimentary coffee, tea and cookies are served 10am-4pm.

On Thursday, May 8, the Hockaday Museum of Art invites visitors age 60 to enjoy free admission to the Museum for Senior Tour & Tea Day. Guests may enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and one of the Museum's trained volunteer docents will greet guests at the front desk area for an educational tour that begins at 10:30 am.

Guests for the May event will enjoy the current artwork of approximately 90 Montana artists across two new exhibitions that include the 2014 Benefit Auction of Miniatures and Montana Artists: Innovators, Inventors and Entrepreneurs. The popular Benefit Auction of Miniatures exhibition and silent auction fundraiser features sixty juried works no larger than 9" x 12" created specifically for the Miniatures event. Postcard-sized 4" x 6" Miniatures will also be offered. Visitors are welcome to bid on their favorite pieces and may check on their status by phoning the Museum at 755-5268.

Twenty-seven artists from all over the state of Montana were juried into the Hockaday's first exhibition of Montana Artrepreneurship Program (MAP) participants' work. Their works relate to the show theme giving the artists an opportunity to express themselves as artrepreneurs living multidimensional lifestyles as artists, entrepreneurs and inventors. The exhibit displays an abundant array of the visual art mediums.

The third fully restored Glacier National Park mural joins the first two on display in the Museum. Visitors are asked to challenge themselves to identify the location depicted in the third mural. All three works were restored by Joe Abbrescia, Jr. and depict iconic landscapes of Glacier National Park.

Senior Tour & Tea Day is sponsored by The Daily Inter Lake, Medical Arts Pharmacy and Sykes Pharmacy in Kalispell.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East.
