Translating Nature's Beauty into Landscape Paintings - Donna Bland
June 15 -17, 2016
9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Adults ages 15 & up: $330 for the 3 day workshop

The Hockaday Museum of Art announces "Translating Nature's Beauty into Landscape Paintings", an adult workshop with professional impressionist artist Donna Bland, to be held June 15 through 17. The focus of this workshop is on how to interpret landscapes in terms of a simplified and strong composition, editing those compositions, and detecting the patterns and connections in them. Workshop attendees will work indoors from enlarged colored copies while concentrating on understanding color and light outdoors and translating that knowledge to a photo of the landscape. The cost for the three day workshop is $330.

Donna studied art at The Student Art League in New York, Scottsdale School of Art, the University of Georgia and Tyler Jr. College. She has continued to study with many of today's master artists and has painted for years with noted artists in California, New York, Georgia and Texas. Donna finds inspiration in works by John Singer Sargent, Nicolai Fechin, Emile Gruppe, Richard Schmid, and Joaquin Sorolla. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, the Austin Plein Air Painters, American Women Artists and Artists of Texas.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East.
