9:00 AM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art announces two Red Bus Plein Air Tours to augment its Plein Air Glacier 2016 experience in late June of this year. Painting outdoors in the fresh air, or "en plein air", attracts adventurous souls who brave encounters with winged and furry four-legged residents, as well as tough their way through a myriad of changing weather conditions. For the second year in a row, guests may reserve their space on an iconic red tour bus and join one of the renowned plein air artists on their excursion into the park as they create new paintings for the Hockaday's ninth annual outdoor painting event. Tour participants may choose to join Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey on Monday, June 27, or Linda Tippetts on Tuesday, June 28.

Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey has invited participants on her tour bus to join her in painting the Park that Monday; these fellow intrepid artists may bring their easel and paint alongside Nancy. Linda Tippetts will be demonstrating her technique as well as recalling her experiences as one of the pioneering artists in the Hockaday's annual A Timeless Legacy - Women Artists of Glacier National Park exhibition and sale.

Buses will be departing from the Apgar Transit Station each morning, transporting the artist and their guests on a tour that will last approximately 6-8 hours. The complete experience includes the bus tour, insights from the artists en route, demonstrations by the artists, and box lunch. Price for the tour is $115 per person for the general public and $100 each for Hockaday members. Seated is extremely limited and advance reservations are required. Call 406-755-5268 for more information and to make a reservation. This special outdoor art event is made possible by a generous donation by Xanterra.

Now in its ninth year, the Hockaday's Plein Air Paint Out event and has become a favorite of art lovers seeking acquisition of original works featuring local landscapes and scenery.
