The Hockaday Museum of Art is proud to host the 2016 exhibition of the Montana Painter's Alliance June 30 - August 6, 2016. MPA members are from all over the state and offer their plein air and studio paintings for sale with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Hockaday.

The Hockaday continues its celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Parks and all of Montana's varied landscapes by hosting the annual Montana Painter's Alliance exhibition June 30 through August 6, 2016. The MPA was established by and for Montana artists to encourage and foster excellence among Montana's professional painters in plein air, studio and landscape painting. The show includes an extraordinarily diverse range of subjects that will surely intrigue and delight the viewer. Patrons may purchase paintings in the exhibition with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Hockaday Museum of Art.

The annual MPA show, which enjoys a statewide following, contains premier works in oil, watercolor, pastel and mixed media that most clearly exemplify each artist's individual style and approach to painting. The recently created paintings come in a range of sizes from miniature to large, and represent the best that Montana has to offer.

The MPA is comprised of approximately thirty of the most accomplished and esteemed Montana artists, and the following will be showing works in this year's exhibition: Rob Akey, Lou Archambault, Marcia Ballowe, Diana Brady, Todd Connor, Nate Closson, Tom English, Chuck Fulcher, Mimi Grant, Frank Hagel, Jerry Inman, Phil Korell, Dick Lauritzen, Jeff Manion, Diana Mysse, Nicholas Oberling, Mark Ogle, Steve Oiestad, Mike Patterson, Bob Phinney, Greg Scheibel, Deb Schmit, Robert Spannring, Laurie Stevens, Janet Sullivan, Ron Ukrainetz, Jeff Walker, Shirle Wempner, and Ken Yarus.

The opening reception for the Montana Painter's Alliance exhibition will be held on Thursday, June 30, 5:00 - 8:00 PM. With live music, local flavors, refreshing adult beverages, and many artists in attendance, the reception will prove to be a most enjoyable early summer event. Guests enjoy free admission to the opening, as well as to the Plein Air Party & Sale being held concurrently outside in the Museum's Centennial Pavilion Tent.
