The Hockaday Museum of Art announces Plein Air Glacier 2016 and continues the timeless tradition of painting in America's National Parks by holding its annual Plein Air Paint Out event June 25-29 in Glacier National Park. The lengthy list of renowned painters is given the freedom to choose a location anywhere within the boundaries of Glacier, and they create as many paintings as possible during those three days-- rain, shine or snow. Now in its ninth year, the Hockaday's Plein Air Paint Out event and has become a favorite of art lovers seeking acquisition of original works featuring local landscapes and scenery. Paintings will be offered at fixed prices to benefit the Museum at a Party & Sale on Thursday, June 30, 5:00 - 8:00 PM.

Painting outdoors in the fresh air, or "en plein air", attracts adventurous souls who brave encounters with the Big Sky state's winged and furry four-legged residents, as well as tough their way through a myriad of changing weather conditions. The Hockaday's Plein Air Paint Out attracts top artistic talent with a decided preference for painting what they see from real life experiences and memories.

The thirty participating artists in the Hockaday's Plein Air Glacier 2016 event include: Rob Akey, Vernon Anderson, Richie Carter, Marsha Davis, Linda Dellandre, Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey, Thomas English, Jake Gaedtke, George Garrity, Margaret Graziano, Gail Hansen, Kathleen Hudson, Allen Jimmerson, Michele Kapor, Thomas G. Lewis, Jeff Manion, Robert Marceau, Patrick McClellan, David Mihalic, Wanda Mumm, Nicholas Oberling, Mark Ogle, Steven Oiestad, Janet Sullivan, Linda Tippetts, Jeff Troupe, Ron Ukrainetz, Sally Vannoy, Shirle Wempner, and Ken Yarus.

The public is invited to board one of the iconic Red Buses for a Plein Air Tour, where participants will enjoy a boxed lunch and watch renowned artists paint in Glacier National Park. By calling 755-5268 and making reservations at the Museum, interested art patrons may reserve their spot to watch Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey and Linda Tippetts paint outdoors on June 27-28.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a private nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm.
