Heart'felt' Greetings From Montana Art Exhibit Description:
"Heart'felt' Greetings from Montana" Exhibit at KALISPELL'S PAINT, METAL, AND MUD GALLERY featuring textile artist, Monique Kleinhans.
Monique Kleinhans' "Heart'Felt' Greetings from Montana" exhibit opens Friday, July 1st and runs through July 30th. Blurring the lines between traditional quilting and textile art, this exhibit includes many needle-felted fiber paintings and 3-D quilted art. Exhibit includes wall art, quilts, quilted greeting cards and home decor inspired by Montana's beauty.
The artist will be in the gallery on Wednesday, July 6th and Friday July 22nd from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM demonstrating the techniques of needle-felted paintings.
Monique is a 5th-generation Montanan, born and raised in the Flathead Valley on the same farm where her grandfather grew up. She spent a number of years in Oregon and the Seattle area attending College and working professionally with regional theatres and performance groups before the beauty of Montana called her home.
"Just as my father took up the plow from his father, I learned to love and work with fabric from my mother. An avid quilter and teacher, mom's work lit my creative fire, and much of what I've learned has come from our playing and experimenting together."
Monique's work includes traditional quilting techniques, applique, bobbin work and thread painting, along with hand-dyed and hand-painted fabric. Many compositions include three-dimensional objects with a variety of fibers and textures.
For the past two years, Monique has also been designing quilt and applique patterns with a focus on our National Parks. Her pattern series based on Glacier Park and Yellowstone have been very well received, with a number of patterns even shown at the International Quilt Market in Houston and Salt Lake. All of her pattern designs and a gallery of her artwork can be seen at her website: www.ladybugscabin.com.
Paint, Metal and Mud is a cooperative located in Kalispell and features artwork exclusively from local artists.
The gallery is located at 16 First Street West, next to the Kalispell Grand Hotel. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
