Description:
SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS SPONSORED BY KALISPELL SALVATION ARMY

Most of us have happy memories of experiences at summer camp; Wyman Institute for Youth Development states "Like no other youth activity, camp has the ability to shape young people's futures and to transform lives. Participants have the opportunity to take risks, learn to accept challenges, and utilize their own untapped potential -- skills that will help them succeed throughout the rest of their lives." The Salvation Army, Kalispell wants to help give all children the opportunity to be in a safe environment where they can play, laugh, have fun and learn life skills, so they are offering scholarships for Flathead County children to enjoy a week at Camp Gifford. Camp Gifford, a Christian camp owned and operated by The Salvation Army, is located north of Spokane, Washington on Deer Lake. Transportation to and from the camp from Kalispell will be provided by The Salvation Army.

The goal is to provide an amazing week of camp to children who would not otherwise have an opportunity to attend a summer camp. Primarily, we serve low-income, foster, homeless, single-parent and minority children, and for those who qualify, camp scholarships allow a child to attend for a registration fee of $25, which will secure a place for a child, including transportation and a camp t-shirt. Ages and dates of the camps are as follows: Ages 7 - 12 (Discovery Camp) is June 27 - July 1 and July 25 - July 29. Ages 13 - 17 (Teen Wilderness Camp) is June 27 -July 1. Spaces are limited, so contact The Salvation Army very soon. For more information and to register, contact Carla Brandt at (406)257-4357 x 223. Information about Camp Gifford can be found at www.campgifford.org.

If individuals are interested in sponsoring a child for camp, checks can be sent to The Salvation Army, PO Box 8357, Kalispell, MT 59904. Credit cards can also be used by contacting The Salvation Army at (406)257-4357 or at 110 Bountiful Drive, Kalispell.
