GOING BATTY WITH THE BIRDERS
8:00 PM
Old Steel Bridge/Kiwanis Lane Parking lot
Description:
GOING BATTY WITH THE BIRDERS

Flathead Audubon and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wildlife staff have rescheduled a late evening bat viewing/listening/capturing field trip for Friday, September 5. (The previous field trip scheduled for August 15 was cancelled due to rain.)

The purposes of the field trip are to share what we know about local bats, put out capture nets and bat detectors, and then wait until dark to capture both bats and bat noises. Bat detectors that can record and process bat sounds in real time will be available. Trained biologists will work the nets and process the bats. Participants will not handle any bats. This is a great chance to see the latest research and technology related to bat inventory work.

Weather permitting, participants will meet at 8 p.m. at the Old Steel Bridge/Kiwanis Lane Parking lot on the west side of the new bridge. Participants will then carpool and drive to the Foy's Bend Fish Conservation Area. Bring headlamps, insect repellent and footwear to walk in potentially wet areas.

Please call or email to register as the trip is limited to 20 people and could be cancelled due to inclement weather. The field trip will end around 11 p.m. For more information and to sign up, contact Alissa Anderson at 206-498-4744 or alissa.kate.anderson@gmail.com, or contact Kaitlyn Farrar at 802-681-8369 or kfarrar17@gmail.com.
