HOCKADAY ANNOUNCES CRITS & CROISSANTS WITH CLAUDIA DAVIS SEPTEMBER 13

Participants are invited to enjoy coffe & croissants while one piece of their current work is critiqued by a professional artist. Painter Claudia Davis is the September guest artist at the Hockaday for Crits & Croissants: A Saturday Morning Artists' Critique.

KALISPELL, MONT. - The Hockaday Museum of Art's Crits & Croissants forum gives those who create art a chance to have their work reviewed by professionals. Artists 15 years of age and older may bring one or more pieces of their recently created artwork for critique while enjoying coffee and croissants. Participants are invited to join painter Claudia Davis on September 13 from 10:30am - 12pm. This session is first in the Crits & Croissants 2014-2015 series.

Claudia Davis is a landscape painter. She says that there are paintings at every turn in Montana, especially in the Flathead Valley, and that it's frequently difficult to decide upon which scene to paint. Her studio is the great outdoors and the back of a pickup truck. Painting "plein air" or out of doors is her passion. Claudia returns to Texas studio in October to paint larger canvases from the plein air sketches.

"I look forward to Crits and Croissants, I will ask each artist to tell the group what inspired the artwork. What is the message they want to convey? Is the art meeting the goal of the artist? I would like this to be very interactive with lots of discussion. If the artwork is not conveying the message, we will look for and discuss solutions."

Claudia is represented by Glacier Gallery in Kalispell and shows regularly at the Hockaday and Bigfork Art Museum shows. Her work can also be viewed at www.claudiadavisart.com.

Crits & Croissants - A Saturday Morning Artist's Critique is held every 2nd Saturday of the month, September - May in the Hockaday's classroom, with a $5 participant fee for members, $7 for non-members.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places.
