Description:
HOCKADAY ANNOUNCES EXHIBIT JACK HAGEL: A MONTANA OUTDOORSMAN PERSPECTIVE

The Hockaday Museum of Art presents a solo exhibition by native Montanan artist Jack Hagel entitled A Montana Outdoorsman Perspective September 18 - November 1. Kalispell painter Hagel won first place in the 2013 Members Salon People's Choice Awards.

The Hockaday Museum of Art announces A Montana Outdoorsman Perspective, an exhibition of paintings by Kalispell painter Jack Hagel featuring scenes and activities familiar to those who enjoy the wild outdoors. The subjects of Hagel's paintings include contemporary and western scenes, landscapes, wildlife, hunting and fishing. A Montana Outdoorsman Perspective will be on display September 18 through November 1, 2014.

Hagel is a Montana native and has worked as a hunting guide, packer, and horse wrangler. He takes his inspiration from many of the famous artists of the past and is greatly influenced by his Dad, Frank Hagel, who is a renowned western artist. Jack's goal is to use creative expression in each painting so the viewer will feel the same emotional connection to the process.

The opening reception for A Montana Outdoorsman Perspective will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and the public is invited to enjoy free admission to the event. Hagel will be speaking as part of the "Conversations with the Artists" series of talks at 4:00 PM that day; admission to the talk is free for Hockaday members and $10 for non-members. Throughout the exhibit, visitors may learn more about the exhibition by taking one of the docent-guided tours held Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM (included with guest admission). The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm. A wheelchair accessible entry and elevator are provided.
