Jeanette Rehahn and Janet Sullivan: Wild Grasses and Flowing Waters
5:00 PM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art presents an exhibition by pastel artists Jeanette Rehahn and Janet Sullivan entitled Wild Grasses and Flowing Waters September 25 - November 8.

The Hockaday Museum of Art announces Wild Grasses and Flowing Waters, an exhibition of paintings by pastel painters Jeanette Rehahn and Janet Sullivan celebrating the natural beauty of Montana. Jeanette Rehahn and Janet Sullivan: Wild Grasses and Flowing Waters will be on display September 25 through November 8, 2014.

Rehahn enjoys traveling around Montana and the greater Northwest in pursuit of scenes to paint. She relishes the opportunity to spend time in an area absorbing its song, listening and watching. Jeanette has been painting the Swan Valley, the Mission Valley and Glacier National Park. Her "special places" include Swan Lake, the Upper Swan River, the Bob Marshall wilderness and Holland Lake. For this exhibition, Rehahn focuses her intrigue of wild grasses and how they respond to the wind, weather and the seasons.

Sullivan is a pastelist and oil painter who earned her BFA at the University of Colorado and continues to study the work of artists she admires including: Delano, Carl Rungius, Maynard Dixon, Clyde Aspevig and William Lathrop. As a full time artist since 1984, Sullivan has exhibited and won numerous awards nationally. Her contribution for the Hockaday show highlights her studies of flowing water, forever changing and endlessly fascinating.

The opening reception for Wild Grasses and Flowing Waters will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and the public is invited to enjoy free admission to the event. Hagel will be speaking as part of the "Conversations with the Artists" series of talks at 4:00 PM that day; admission to the talk is free for Hockaday members and $10 for non-members. Throughout the exhibit, visitors may learn more about the exhibition by taking one of the docent-guided tours held Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM (included with guest admission). The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East.
