Auditions for “A Christmas Story”
7:00 PM
O'Shaughnessy Center
Description:
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a winter production of "A Christmas Story" on October 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Please enter through the black single door to the left of the front double doors. Arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script.
Based on the beloved 1983 motion picture, "A Christmas Story" is the perfect feel-good holiday show for the whole family to enjoy. In 1940s Indiana, a bespectacled boy named Ralphie Parker has a big imagination and one wish for Christmas - a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself, only to hear the consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All of the elements from the classic movie are here, including the family's exploding furnace, a kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a school bully, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole.
Rebecca Schaffer is the director of this production. The cast will be composed of 25 women, men and children. Only 7 to 10 kids will be part of the cast and they must be 7 years of age or older at the time of auditions. It should be noted that this production is not a musical but rather the play version of the iconic film.
No experience is necessary and no preparation is required for the audition. Rehearsals will begin in mid-October for a total time commitment of eight weeks. There are ten performances over three weekends on December 1-4, 9-11, 16-18.
