Crits & Croissants - A Saturday Morning Artist's Critique
10:30 AM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art's Crits & Croissants forum gives those who create art a chance to have their work reviewed by professionals. Artists 15 years of age and older may bring one or more pieces of their recently created artwork for critique while enjoying coffee and croissants. Participants are invited to join painter Joann Sleadd on October 10 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM.

Joann has been painting since she was a child growing up in Elsah, IL, and St. Louis, MO. She was plein air painting before she knew what it was called, and she enjoyed drawing and coloring the scenes and animals on her family farm. She has taught photography and negative retouching, giving workshops for the Professional Photographers of America. She was chosen to make a training video on negative retouching for The Kodak Company. Joann's paintings have been shown at the Hockaday Museum of Art and the Bigfork Museum of Art & History; she is presently represented by The Sandpiper Gallery in Polson and Sleadd Fine Art and Photography in Kalispell.

Joann's focus for Crits & Croissants will be on "How to be Your Own (best) Critic". She will guide the artists attending on how to look for mistakes and offer tips on how to correct them. Composition, color, and techniques will be discussed.

Crits & Croissants – A Saturday Morning Artist's Critique is held every 2nd Saturday of the month, September – May in the Hockaday's classroom, with a $5 participant fee for members, $7 for non-members.
