Betty & the Boy originally started as a modest duo with a solid belief in performing original music compositions. Meeting in a small town in Montana and relocating their music to Eugene, Oregon, Bettreena Jaeger and Josh Harvey combine their contrary influences to write and perform their minimalistic melodies on street corners and stages across the Northwest. With banjo, guitar, mandolin and a variety of other sounds played by new friends (Jon Conlon on bass, Michelle Whitlock on violin and Nanci McDonald on cello), these songsters will steal your heart.

In 2013, Betty & the Boy performed on the first-ever Mountain Song At Sea (a "best of bluegrass cruise from Miami to the Bahamas) alongside The Del McCoury Band, Punch Brothers,Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers and the David Grisman Sextet.

Stark, haunting and darkly beautiful, Betty & The Boy's "The Wreckage" rises up from that fabled crossroads where angels and demons battle for our better nature, singing siren songs of love, loss and the wages of time. Their sound, neither folk nor bluegrass but some dreamy intersection of both, is not entirely of this world -- it has the aura of old photos, timeless and tinged with a melancholy dignity. Gorgeous vocals soar and burrow, while the ghosty, pared-down compositions travel into mesmerizing byways, through valleys that answer the echoes of this country's most primordial music. Call it Northwest Gothic, elusive and enveloping at once, and always stunning.
