Visions of the American West
5:00 PM
Hockaday Museum of Art
Description:
The Hockaday Museum of Art presents an exhibition featuring art and artifacts from its vault entitled Visions of the American West November 6, 2014 - February 21, 2015.

The Hockaday Museum of Art announces Visions of the American West, an exhibition of art and artifacts from its permanent collection. The exhibition will comprise a rich diversity of talent spanning the last century. Visions of the American West will be on display November 6, 2014 through February 21, 2015.

Many artists and photographers have documented much of the tribal culture that has been lost during America's westward expansion. The Hockaday's permanent collection contains examples of how books, art and artifacts help to shape our collective vision of a distinctive and unique period in our country's history. The exhibition honors the traditions found in western art featuring works by well-known and historic artists including O.C. Seltzer, T.J. Hileman, E.E. Heikka, Bud Helbig, Harry Harpster, R.Crooks, Ace Powell, Paul Surber and Roland Reed..

The opening reception for Visions of the American West will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and the public is invited to enjoy free admission to the event. Throughout the exhibit, visitors may learn more about the exhibition by taking one of the docent-guided tours held Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM (included with guest admission). The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm. A wheelchair accessible entry and elevator are provided.
