Rebel For Dignity
7:00 PM Whitefish High School Gymnasium
Description:
Rebel For Dignity, Students from Montana share their experience living with the Zapatistas in southeast Mexico. This presentation questions orthodoxies (capitalism and hierarchy) and their resulting manifestations in the form of economic, social and environmental injustice. It also explores viable and practical responses to these often unquestioned and fatal realities.
Students from Missoula High Schools and the University of Montana will be visiting communities across Montana and the Northwest describing their experience living with Zapatistas. “Rebel for Dignity” is a presentation that looks at capitalism and irreverently questions this system under which people without power across the globe have long suffered. Additionally, it calls into doubt top-down structures for organizing societies. Designed to initiate much-needed dialogue, “Rebel” not only critiques capitalism and hierarchy, but also tries to present alternative organizational forms that the group experienced firsthand.
The Whitefish High School Young Democrats will be hosting this presentation Friday November 20 at 7:00 PM in the Whitefish High School Gymnasium.
