Arbor Day Celebration
10:30 AM    Whitefish Baker Park

Description:
On behalf of the City of Whitefish, Department of Parks and Recreation, the community is invited to Whitefish Baker Park on April 25, 2008 to attend the celebration of National Arbor Day. This annual event will start at 10:30 a.m., beginning with a presentation to the City of the 2008 Tree City USA Award.

This year’s Arbor Day Tree planting project will place ten trees that will start the process of landscaping the Riverside Footbridge area on both sides. The new trees will be planted under the coordination and support of the Tree Advisory Committee, State of Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, park maintenance staff, Sue Moll and students from Muldown Elementary. All Arbor Day participants will have an opportunity to receive a free seedling. The celebration will begin in Baker Park and then continues down to the Riverside Footbridge to plant the ten trees.

After planting the trees, grab some lunch at Baker Park with local food vendors, artists, live music, raffles and educational information from companies that will answer questions you may have. Also, check out the Adopt a Tree program and how you can participate.

For children in Pre K through Fourth grade that would like to participate in a coloring contest, please pick up the instructions and coloring sheet at the Whitefish Parks office located in City Hall.  All coloring sheets must be returned to the parks office or their teacher by April 18th, 2008, 5 p.m.  Winners will be announced at Baker Park on Arbor Day.
