The Olduvai Forum
7:00 PM Clementine's
Description:
This month's Olduvai Forum will feature a film presentation of a keynote address by James Howard Kunstler delivered in Missoula last year at the annual Sopris Foundation Conference.Jim Kunstler is well known for his books The Long Emergency and Geography of Nowhere, along with his fierce and articulate criticism of the American boondoggle of suburban development and extraordinarily shortsighted dependence on petroleum featured in films like The End of Suburbia. In this video recording Kunstler expands on his past critiques and discusses the broad social changes he expects as we enter a period of diminishing access to cheap oil. Unlike the short appearances in The End of Suburbia, in this address Kunstler is allowed time to develop a clear and coherent message. It is pure and unedited Kunstler and promises to stimulate a lively discussion.
As always, Stephanie will be providing wonderful desserts, and there will be coffee and tea on the house.
No admission charge, but we appreciate donations to cover rental of Clementine's for the evening. Coffee and tea provided free.
