Description:
The Olduvai Forum will feature video coverage of a keynote address “The Changing ‘Climate’ of US Politics” by David Orr at last year’s Sopris Foundation conference “Innovative Ideas For A New West”, held in Missoula. David Orr is Chair of the Environmental Studies Program at Oberlin College, and is well known for his ideas that bring attention to the urgent need for ecological awareness in education and the design of our human environments. Both of his recent books, “The Nature of Design” and “Earth in Mind” are spectacular. In the address we will screen, David Orr speaks in both specific and broad terms about the nature of our ecological predicament, and very articulately contrasts the roles of hope and optimism in our attitudes toward the future.
Orr is nothing less than brilliant, and this address promises to both awaken and inspire.
