Earth Day

Description:
Depot Park in Kalispell will be full of Earth Day Activities during the annual “Keep the Flathead Valley Clean” event on Saturday, April 26th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. This event is open to everyone....individuals, families and groups. Volunteers will be supplied with garbage bags, gloves and safety vests and directed to specific areas to clean up in downtown Kalispell from 10:00 a.m. until Noon. Coffee, pastries and bottled water will be available. A BBQ luncheon and live concert will be held at noon in Depot Park. All volunteers are eligible to enter a raffle for prizes donated by area businesses. Plum Creek has donated tree seedlings for participants. There will be a poster contest for grades pre-school – 4th grade only. Posters must be handmade and not computer-generated. Acceptable mediums are watercolors, paints, marker, crayon, pencil or color pencil. Posters are being accepted from all Flathead Valley area schools and groups. Poster size must be 8 1/2” x 11” up to 11” x 14”. Posters will score better if they are colorful. Posters will be judged at noon with prizes being awarded. The grand prize poster will be featured as the 2009 Earth Day poster. This event is sponsored by Valley Recycling in cooperation with Evergreen Disposal, the Kalispell Downtown Association, Kalispell Parks and Recreation, Montana Conservation Corps, KOFI, KALS Radio, Kalispell Street Tree Commission, Community of Resource Educators (CORE), Glacier Bank and Kalispell Center Mall. For more information on clean up or poster contest call Valley Recycling 257-2574. Drop entry posters by April 22nd at Valley Recycling 1410 Hwy. 2 West, Kalispell. Recycling bins will be on site at Depot Park on April 26th. Community Clean Up events are also being hosted on April 26th by Glacier Bank in Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Eureka.
