Growing up in a logging family of rural New Brunswick, known for its hard times and hard work, Andersen is known for his workingman's blues with hues of folk, rock, country, and gospel. In 2010 he won Memphis' famed International Blues Challenge, and toured with Old Crow Medicine Show; in 2011 he recorded his eighth album Coal Mining Blues.
