July Olduvai Forum
7:00 PM Clementine's
Description:
This month’s Olduvai presentation features a video recording of the summary keynote address from the 2007 Sopris conference in Missoula by researcher in sustainable agriculture Wes Jackson. Jackson is best known for his founding and direction of The Land Institute in Salinas, Kansas, where he and his colleagues have been working for more than three decades to develop an agricultural model based on perennial polyculture, that is , farming to produce grains in an ecosystem modeled after the ecologically diverse native prairie. Jackson’s work goes beyond agriculture, and to the roots of a workable philosophy for living respectably on an earth with clear limits. His presentation here, while well informed by practical matters, is fundamentally spiritual.
