WHITEFISH SKI JORING KICK OFF PARTY DECEMBER 14TH
Public Invited to Learn About Participating in the Winter Carnival Event
The Whitefish Winter Carnival Ski Joring Committee is hosting a free "Kickoff Party" on December 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Great Northern Bar in downtown Whitefish. Anyone interested in learning how to ski jore or volunteer to help with the event on January 25 -27, 2013, is welcome to attend. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
The Ski Joring event is one of the signature Winter Carnival activities that combines a Montana-style winter extreme sport mix of two of Big Sky Country's favorites: horses and skiing. The spectator-friendly event is held at Whitefish Municipal Airport. Modern ski joring involves a horse and rider pulling a skier around a snow-packed horseshoe shaped 600-foot-long course at high speeds, with the skier required to navigate over jumps and around slalom gates.
