On January 13, 2025, the Moon will occult (pass in front of) the planet Mars. Weather permitting, the Big Sky Astronomy Club will be observing the event and is inviting the public to come and witness this interesting occurrence. We will have telescopes set up and an array of binoculars on hand for visitors to use to witness our Moon pass in front of the Red Planet. The observing will be done at the West Valley Fire Department west parking lot, starting at 6:30 PM. The fire hall is located at 2412 Farm-To-Market Road, just 1/4 mile north of West Valley School. In the event of inclement (cloudy) weather, a cancellation notice will be posted on the home page of the club's website. Please check the "News: box on the afternoon of Monday the 13th to verify whether the event is still on or not.
