12:30 PM
Lone Pine State Park
Great Backyard Bird Count Celebration Description:
The 21st annual Great Backyard Bird Count is a free, fun and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes (or as long as they wish) on one or more days of the four-day event: Friday February 15th through Monday, February 18th: and report their sightings online at birdcount.org.
Lone Pine State Park will be celebrating on Sunday, February 17th from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Come up to the visitor center and learn the basics of birding, play games, and take part in our bird activities to potentially win prizes. There will be resources to help you learn birds, where to look up birds, and where we can enter our data. So come up and help Lone Pine take part in one of the largest citizen science projects, collecting data of the birds of Lone Pine’s visitor center. Best of all its all FREE.
