Falling at any age can be dangerous, but did you know that falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults? In fact, more than one in four older adults age 65 or older fall each year. And while falls can happen for a variety of reasons, there are several proven ways to reduce your loved one’s risk.

To help assess your risk of falling and to share preventive educational information, Prestige Assisted Living at Kalispell is offering free fall-reduction evaluations now through April.

These complimentary evaluations, led by trained and certified Prestige Wellness Coaches, will guide participants through a series of movements and exercises to assess strength, flexibility and balance, which all tend to decrease as we age. To help reduce participants’ risk, Prestige representatives will offer recommendations based on the results and will share best practices for staying safe at home and avoiding falls.

Prestige Assisted Living at Kalispell is also offering free exercise classes specifically designed to reduce the risk of falling in older adults. During each session, Wellness Coaches lead a group of participants through an exercise routine that is proven to lessen the likelihood of falls and help prevent related injuries. The community is invited to attend their first five classes at no cost, and participants can also purchase an additional ten classes at a reduced rate.
