Film Club screens classic fantasy "The Princess Bride"
7:00 PM
The Museum at Central School
Film Club screens classic fantasy Description:
Ever since its release over 30 years ago in 1987, The Princess Bride has made its mark as one of the best-known and most-seen “cult films” of all time. I mean, where else can you find Princess Buttercup, Prince Humperdinck, Fred Savage, The Dread Pirate Roberts, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal, and the great Inigo Montoya all in one place? A fantasy and comedy rolled up in a romance film, The Princess Bride" has something for everyone.

Thinking of skipping it? “Inconceivable!”
At one point or another, Robert Redford, Norman Jewison, John Boorman, and François Truffaut all tried to make this movie, but due to a series of unrelated incidents it languished for years. (In one of these proto-Princess Brides, a then-unknown Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to play Fezzik.)

The movie eventually only got made because directory Rob Reiner had built up so much good will with movies like "This is Spinal Tap" that the studio, 20th Century Fox, offered to make any project of his choice.

There is no charge for the film, and donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of acquiring and showing the films. The movie and popcorn are free; wine, beer, pop and water will be for sale. Seating is provided, but film fans can bring their own floor pillows, portable chairs, or whatever is comfortable for viewing the film.
