 FVCC TO HOST EARTH MATTERS WEEK
 
                The Flathead Valley Community College Renewable Resource Club will host a week of festivities in celebration of Earth Day beginning April 16.  All events will take place on the FVCC campus and are free and open to members of the community.  Scheduled activities will include:
 
                April 16:  Clean up the FVCC Campus – Participants should meet in the foyer of Blake Hall at 9 a.m.  Campus cleanup will take place from 9 to 11 a.m.
 
                April 17:  “Addicted to Plastic” Screening – This documentary explores plastic's path over the last 100 years and the effects it has had on the environment.  The film will play continuously in the main lobby of the Arts and Technology building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
 
                April 18:  Chemical Free Cleaners Workshop – Instructor Tazia Ramone will demonstrate how to make safe and affordable laundry and dish soap in room 140 inside Blake Hall from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
 
                April 19:  Reuse Plastic Bags Workshop – Melinda Ratchye will instruct how to crochet “plarn” (yarn made of plastic bags) into reusable totes in room 140 inside Blake Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 
                April 20:  Chemical Free Skin Care Workshop – Kimberly DeVries will teach nutrition from the inside out and how to make in room 140 inside Blake Hall from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
 
                April 20:  Growing our Future – Hosted by Citizens for a Better Flathead, this evening of song and inspiring ideas will feature music by the Headwaters Ensemble of the Crown of the Continent Choir, a short film, art activities for kids, an environmental idea exchange, and refreshments.  The event will be held in the large community meeting room inside the Arts and Technology building from 7 to 9 p.m.
 
                April 21:  Earth Matters Family Carnival –The week’s grand finale event will feature Smokey the Bear,Woodsy Owl, educational games, art from recycled materials, poetry, environmental trivia and fun facts, interpretive nature walks, prizes, and music from Tra Le Gael.  Food will be available for purchase.  The carnival will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the large community meeting room in the Arts and Technology building and outside (weather permitting).
