Description:
The Yaak Valley Forest Council is hosting an economic development forum at the Lincoln Theater in Troy, MT on Thursday, October 26th at 6:30 pm. The goal of the forum is share creative ways to build a vibrant economy in the greater Troy area. We are welcoming three speakers covering the topics of cooperative development, outdoor recreation, and geotourism.
Tracy McIntyre, based out of Eureka, is a technical advisor for Montana Cooperative Development Center, She will share the basics of the cooperative business model and how it can work for a variety of industries in the our area.
As the new director for the Montana Office of Outdoor Recreation, Rachel Vandevoort will be sharing insight into how the outdoor recreation industry, the largest sector of Montana's economy, can serve as a path to growth in the Troy area.
Sheena Pate, the project coordinator for the Crown of the Continent, will introduce the "Geotourism" concept and how it can be a tool to build a sustainable tourism industry without sacrificing our values or identity.
The event will consist of presentations by each speaker followed by a question and answer session in a panel format. Afterward, we will move to the adjacent cafe space for refreshments and time to visit with our presentors.
