Film Club screens "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", FREE!
7:00 PM
The Museum at Central School
Film Club screens Description:
It has been compared to Homer’s Odyssey, but with a southern gothic, Depression-era twist, and Joel and Ethan Coen’s O Brother, Where Art Thou? has become a favorite film for many in the cannon of two of the country’s most successful filmmakers. The film portrays three somewhat bumbling escaped convicts in 1930s Mississippi who find themselves in one ridiculous situation after another, all in the search of a buried treasure that may or may not exist. The film stars George Clooney and Tim Blake Nelson, as well as frequent Coen Brothers collaborators John Turturro and John Goodman. It is rated PG-13.

Outside of the film itself, Producer T-Bone Burnett’s soundtrack won the 2001 Grammy for Album of the Year and directly led to a bluegrass and folk music revival across the United States.

There is no charge for the film, and donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of acquiring and showing the films. The movie and popcorn are free; wine, beer, pop and water will be for sale. Seating is provided, but film fans can bring their own floor pillows, portable chairs, or whatever is comfortable for viewing the film.
