NRSAW: Northern Rockies Snow & Avalanche Workshop Description:
The Northern Rockies Snow & Avalanche Workshop (NRSAW) returns to Whitefish on Saturday, November 8, 2025, for a full day of stories, science, and skills that help save lives in the mountains. Hosted by the Flathead Avalanche Center and Friends of the Flathead Avalanche Center, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.

This year’s theme, “What Do We Know About…?”, explores the latest in snow science, human factors, and risk management. Featured speakers include Zahan “Z” Billimoria, international mountain guide and Patagonia ambassador; Pascal Haegeli, PhD, avalanche researcher; Julie Ann “Julz” Holder, AMGA Certified Ski Guide and founder of Grounding Truth Holistic Guiding; Lydia Willoughby, AIARE instructor; Joseph Messina, NWS meteorologist; and Ron Simenhois, avalanche forecaster and researcher.

Attendees can visit vendor booths, connect with the backcountry community, and enter a raffle supporting local avalanche education. Organizers encourage backcountry users, guides, recreationists, and anyone interested in safe winter travel to attend this community event.
