HOCKADAY MUSEUM ANNOUNCES THE "MONTANA ARTISTS: INNOVATORS, INVENTORS AND ENTREPRENEURS" EXHIBIT

The Hockaday announces its first exhibition of Montana Artrepreneurship Program (MAP) artists' works in Montana Artists: Innovators, Inventors and Entrepreneurs. Artists from all over the state working in diverse mediums have been juried into this special exhibit.

The Hockaday is proud to host its first exhibition of Montana Artrepreneurship Program (MAP) participants' work, called Montana Artists: Innovators, Inventors and Entrepreneurs, May 8 through June 21. MAP artists from across the state were invited to submit work that responds to the show theme that the artists an opportunity to express themselves as artrepreneurs living multidimensional lifestyles as artists, entrepreneurs and inventors. The juried exhibit will display an abundant array of the visual art mediums.

Participating artists include: Laura Marie Anderson (Billings), Meagan Abra Blessing (Bozeman), Michael Blessing (Bozeman), Liz Chappie Zoller (Three Forks), Karen Chesna (Kalispell), Marti de Alva (Arlee), Merrily Dunham (Condon), Kiana Fecteau (Stevensville), Becky Fulton (Kalispell), Laurie Gano (Melville), Gail Hansen (Whitefish), Carol Hartman (Bozeman), Pam Houston (Ulm), Crystal Kingston (Dixon), Kris Kramer (Whitefish), Wendy Marquis (Belgrade), Raette Meredith (Kalispell), Jennifer Ogden (Hamilton), Kelly Price (Victor), Mary Jane Ross (Stevensville), Karen Savory (Hamilton)
Yvonne Stotler (Kalispell), Sheri Trepina (Kalispell), Kara Tripp (Bozeman), James Weikert (Bozeman), Bob Worthy (Helena) and Dana Zier (Columbus).

The MAP program is designed to help visual artists develop a sustainable business by learning about the art of entrepreneurship. MAP offers Market-Ready Certification training specifically geared to visual artists to develop the tools needed to start a business through professional development workshops, mentorships and peer-to-peer learning as well as self-directed learning and studio-based work.

A free opening reception will be held Thursday, May 8, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Museum. Selected works will be offered for sale at fixed prices with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Museum's mission "to enrich the cultural life of the community and region, and to preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park."

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave East. It is housed in a 1904 Carnegie Library building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, open year-round, Tues-Sat from 10am-5pm. A wheelchair accessible entry and elevator are provided.
