The fourth annual 1k/5k color celebration, Pink Me Up!, is scheduled for Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC). The non-timed walk/run event is all about having fun with your family and friends to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have experienced cancer and bring awareness about cancer to the Flathead Valley.
This year's event features a new twist: obstacles. Three obstacles are scattered throughout the racetrack. Participants have the option of going through each obstacle, which includes a giant slip-n-slide complete with color.
All participants start the race in a clean white shirt. At stations throughout the race, you will get doused in different hues of pink, purple, and other colors. By the end of the race, you will be a literal rainbow of recognition of your racing prowess. After you finish the race, join the dance party with free giveaways and lots of fun. When everyone has finished the race, there will be a huge color throw at the finish line to celebrate life.
The event, which starts at 2:00 p.m., is open to all ages. The cost for an individual is $20; families (2 adults and 4 kids) are $50; and teams (minimum of 4 registrants, no max) are $18 per registrant. All proceeds from the event go to Cancer Support Community Kalispell to fund programs for cancer survivors and their families in the Flathead Valley.
